Charles P. Burney album of drawings
Visual Materials
A contemporary half-leather album with a metal clasp containing illustrations by Charles P. Burney dating from approximately 1801 to 1805. Interior of the album's front and back pages are signed by Burney. End of album signature includes "Mert Coll." below name. Illustrations are in watercolor, pen and ink, and pencil; largely depicting views of various regions in Great Britain (Yorkshire, East Anglia, Wales, etc.), Roman monuments, profiles of people, and animals. Images illustrate cottages, cathedral facades, castles, country landscapes, architectural ruins, horses, goats, dogs, donkeys, and other figures. The sketches are largely titled and dated by the artist. Some sketches of regions in York and Sussex from 1804 include the signature, "P.S.M." Also included in an envelope are two loose sketches from the sketchbook depicting allegorical figures Melpomene and Chronos.

An autograph document signed by William Godwin, London, England. The promissory note is made out to Rev. C. P. Burney for the amount of thirty-seven pounds, the note is to come due in three months; Burney signed the verso of the note.
