A copy of the speech given by Otis Chandler at the Polytechnic School Gym Dedication on October 11, 1968. Also in this folder is a thank you letter from David K. Robinson, President of the Board of Trustees at Polytechnic School; a two page memo to Dan Moore from Jan Rouse, Director of Development at Polytechnic School, which provides further information about the gym for Otis Chandler's speech; a thank you letter from Janet Rouse; four items of correspondence, between James N. Gamble, Vice President of the Board of Trustees at Polytechnic School, and Otis Chandler, which discuss the invitation to speak, Otis Chandler's acceptance, planning details and thank yous; a page detailing Vietnam war costs; handwritten notes about the audience on a ruled sheet of paper; and the program of the event.

Feldman, Producer at KABC-TV; a note stating two calls came in regarding the Press Conference appearance; a note of praise from Ann Jardine [Mrs. Sinclair Jardine]; a letter of praise from C.N. Parker, Executive Vice President of Junior Achievement; a congratulatory letter from Comte de Berard; a letter of praise from Frederic A. Chase, a former L.A. Times reporter; two copies of a letter from Freddie Miller to Lynn Gates of KABC, Channel 7, informing Gates of topics that Otis Chandler cannot discuss; and a letter from Robert Feldman to Freddie Miller confirming Otis Chandler's appearance.

He was best known for his weekly column, "By the Way," which ran from 1939 to 1971. Includes correspondence and items related to the Sports Headliners banquet. Date range is 1939-1957.

Three copies of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the Arizona Newspaper Association on January 21, 1977. One of the copies does not include the introduction and another copy has hand written notes on it. Other items in this folder include two letters from Eugene N. Marten, Publisher of The Verde Independent, requesting Chandler to be speaker and the other he thanks Chandler for accepting. Attached to these two letters are notes from Freddie Miller urging Chandler to accept. A letter of praise from Mrs. Eugene C. Pulliam [Nina Pulliam], Publisher of the Phoenix Republic and Gazette; a letter of praise from William J. Woestendiek, Executive Editor of The Arizona Daily Star; a memo from Robert L. Flannes to Otis Chandler regarding Alan Moyer. Attached to this memo is a note from Donna Swayze to Freddie Miller informing her that Chandler already talked to Moyer and Chandler declined the speech request. A thank you letter from Hal Marshall, Director at The University of Arizona News Bureau, and a response thank you letter from Otis Chandler; a letter for praise from Paul A. McKalip, Senior Editor at the Tucson Daily Citizen, and a response thank you letter from Otis Chandler.
