  One box of modeling clay, labeled Amaco Modeling Clay, Set 10W, manufactured by the American Art Clay Company, Indianapolis, Indiana, ca. 1935. The block of clay is housed within its mailing carton. The remainder of the front of the box reads: "for the supply list and individual pupil use. A non-hardening, odorless, permanently plastic modeling material." On the opposite side of the box is the mailing label (printed on the box itself), which is addressed in ms. to "Suv. of Drawing, c/o Board of Education, Gloucester, Mass." There are two postage stamps, one 3-cent and one 1 1/2 cent, affixed to the end of the box. The package appears to be unopened.

  One flyer entitled Art Craft Clays by AMACO, published by American Art Clay Company, Indianapolis, Indiana, ca. 1935. This leaflet is a promotional piece for AMACO clays and products including AMACO clay flour and moist clay; Permoplast modeling clay; Marblex; and Mexican Pottery Clay. The last page of this 8-page advertisement is a list of products and prices. The leaflet is printed in blue and black inks, and is illustrated. The brochure is a single sheet, folded into fourths to create an 8-page pamphlet.

  Clay Modeling in the School Room

  One art instruction book entitled Clay Modeling in the School Room, by Ellen Stephens Hildreth, published by Milton Bradley & Co., Springfield, Massachusetts, copyright 1892. The book is an instructional guide for teachers, meant for use in kindergarten and primary school classrooms and is 76 pages in length. It provides general instructions for clay modeling, and features simple to more complex creations using solid forms of clay. The front cover is decorated and illustrated, with an image of a young boy creating a large clay vase. The back cover continues some of the design elements of the front cover, and features an image of a helmeted Roman figure (head and shoulders only). The book is divided into seven series: sphere, oblate spheroid, prolate speroid, ovoid, cone, cylinder and cube; each illustrated with line drawings and includes suggested items and directions for modeling. On the final page is a publisher's advertisement for "Books for Teachers published by the Milton Bradley Company". "5-" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, on the upper right-hand corner of the title page.

  Donald Duck Paint Box

  One boxed watercolor paint set entitled Donald Duck Paint Box, manufactured by Transogram, Inc., New York and Walt Disney Productions, 1950. The set is comprised of 12 molded star-shaped cakes of watercolor paints and one paintbrush, housed within a decorated tin box. The paints are affixed to the bottom of the box, and printed within the center (on paper) is: "Donald Duck Paint Set, No. 1422." The underside of the hinged lid bears black, red and white images of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy and Dopey. At the bottom of the underside of the lid is printed "A Transogram Gold Medal Craft Set" and "[copyright symbol] Walt Disney Productions." "Copyright 1950 Walt Disney Productions" is printed at the bottom of the top lid illustration. Images of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse painting feature on the top lid.

  Story Sewing Cards

  One boxed set of sewing cards entitled Story Sewing Cards, manufactured by the Milton Bradley Company, Springfield, Massachusetts, ca. 1920. The set is comprised of 10 numbered sewing cards, three lengths of colored thread, and one sewing needle. The set is housed within a paperboard box; mounted on the lid is a color illustrated label. The set number 4222 and instructions are printed on the underside of the lid. Each of the three lengths of colored thread is wrapped around a 2-dimensional paper spool. The sewing cards within this set are representative scenes from children's stories, for example: Jack and Jill, Mother Goose, and Little Bo Peep. Six of the ten cards have been completed either in part or in full.
