The box contains 5 slots for 5 different grades of pencils; the slots are labeled, and there is a hardness guide printed on a paper label affixed to the underside of the lid. The guide is printed in both French and English. The entire contents of the lid read: "Prize-Medals, London 1851 New York 1853 paris 1855 etc., A.W. Faber's Polygrade-Lead-Pencils Manufacion y established 1761." The label is decorated and embossed, in gold, into the lid. The box is empty.

    One box of erasers entitled Castell Gum Cleaners: for a Quick, Clean Job, manufactured by A.W. Faber, Inc., Newark, New Jersey. The paperboard box contains 18 individual erasers of varying sizes, three of which are A.W. Faber Castell Gum Cleaners. The two other brands present are Vitagum Artists Eraser and RubKleen (made by Eberhard Faber). The box is printed in red, yellow and blue.

    Two boxed sets of colored pencils manufactured by the Eberhard Faber Pencil Company entitled "Aquarello", Assortment No. 1163 and Mongol Thin Lead Colored Indelible Pencils, Assortment No. 741, ca. 1935. Both sets are wash colors; these are colored pencils that were meant to be gone over with a brush dipped in water. The slogan printed on each of the two interior labels reads "Paint with pencils." Each box is hinged box and has a snap closure. Pencils are missing from both sets. Title supplied by cataloger.

    One boxed set of lead pencils entitled 'Venus' Perfect Pencils, manufactured by the American Lead Pencil Co., New York and London, ca. 1910. The box was issued with 5 lead pencils and an eraser; only three pencils remain. On the top lid of the box is an illustrated range of the various degrees of color the pencils are available in: "Made in 17 black and 2 copying degrees: each degree guaranteed never to vary." Printed on the underside of the lid is information about the Venus eraser.

    One boxed set of colored crayons entitled Tony Sarg's Circus Crayons, manufactured by the TransoGram Company, Inc., New York, ca. 1920. This set consists of 12 large wax crayons set within a cardboard cutout holder in the shape of a circus hippopotamus. The hippo is wearing a circus blanket upon which the title and the manufacturer's names are printed. The crayon box is between the two sides of the hippopotamus, creating a 3-dimensional crayon holder. There is no date of manufacture, and there is no top lid for the crayon box. The dimensions given are for the cardboard hippo, minus the height of the crayons.

    One boxed watercolor paint set entitled Donald Duck Paint Box, manufactured by Transogram, Inc., New York and Walt Disney Productions, 1950. The set is comprised of 12 molded star-shaped cakes of watercolor paints and one paintbrush, housed within a decorated tin box. The paints are affixed to the bottom of the box, and printed within the center (on paper) is: "Donald Duck Paint Set, No. 1422." The underside of the hinged lid bears black, red and white images of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy and Dopey. At the bottom of the underside of the lid is printed "A Transogram Gold Medal Craft Set" and "[copyright symbol] Walt Disney Productions." "Copyright 1950 Walt Disney Productions" is printed at the bottom of the top lid illustration. Images of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse painting feature on the top lid.
