    One tracing book entitled Tracing Book, Pencil Pictures, published by Charles E. Graham & Co., New York, ca. 1900. The series title is 0202--Junior Drawing Series (printed in the lower right-hand corner of the cover). The chromolithograph cover of the tracing book shows two young girls in front of a blackboard preparing to use colored chalk. The back cover shows a girl, two drawings and a toy. The book is comprised of 8 leaves of images for tracing, and 8 leaves of tracing paper, bound in front of each image. The images are of animals and include a pheasant, cats, a tiger, horses and a cow. Some of the images have been traced onto the paper provided. "Elizabeth Parker" is written in ms. on the inside front cover. "$2.00" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the front cover.

    One joint drawing and tracing book entitled Drawing and Tracing Book: Boats and Houses, published by McLoughlin Bros., New York, copyright 1898. The cover title reads: Drawing and Tracing Book: Boats and Houses. This book is comprised of 8 lithograph plates of images for drawing and tracing. The front and back covers are chromolithographs; the front cover features a bespectacled little girl, seated at a table, painting in a coloring book. The back cover reads: "First lessons in drawing for children" and has a decorative, floral design below the words. The publisher's statement is in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover: "Copyright 1898, McLoughlin Bros. New York." The images inside the book are the same as those in Box 33, env. 03. These images have been traced in pencil and colored in with crayons. "Helen A. Bailey" is written in ms., in pencil, across the bottom of the front cover.

    One drawing book of original drawings entitled Drawing Book, created by Anna Warner in 1870. The book was manufactured by Nison, Phinney, Blakeman & Co., New York. The book is 10 leaves in length, and contains original pencil drawings, some of which are labeled. The book is bound in a yellow paper cover, and the front cover is illustrated with a lithograph scene of two men, one of whom is drawing and the other is painting. This scene is framed by large drapes held open by cherubs. Most of the pencil drawings are of building structures and houses; DK's accompanying note describes them as "formula drawings, with personal labels; 'our house'; 'our school house'." "Anna E. Warner, Batania [?] Drawing Book, N. York, Sep. 1, 1870." is written in ms. on the inside front cover and at the top of the front cover.

This book is comprised of 8 lithograph plates of images for tracing and drawing, with 8 leaves of tracing paper bound in. The front cover is a chromolithograph image of a boy and a girl in a rowboat. Both are wearing hats, and the little boy is rowing like a gondolier. The back cover is a green and white mesh pattern. The images for tracing are of various types of boats and houses. "81" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. None of the images have been traced or copied. "Bertie from Emily Jan. 11-1911" is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper left-hand corner of the title page. "2.50" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the title page.

    One joint drawing and tracing book entitled Great Big Drawing and Tracing Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., Springfield, Massachusetts, ca. 1928. This book is comprised of 8 leaves of illustrations for tracing, copying and coloring, and 8 leaves of tracing paper. The front and back covers are chromolithograph illustrations; the front cover features a boy drawing and a girl at play, the back cover illustration is of a seated child drawing. Above her are the words: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." "510" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. The illustrations within this book are grouped by category, and each leaf is labeled: "Little Folks Friends (toys); Feathered Friends; Four Footed Friends; Fruits and [has been cut out]; The Farmer and the Goose (signed by Rhoda Chase); Towser and the Snow Man (also signed by Rhoda Chase); and Mothers Sewing Circle." Many of the images have been traced and colored in. "Alice Brown, Dec. 25, 1928" is written in ms., in pencil, at the top of the back cover.     Drawing Book, For Copies

    Two drawing books of original and copied drawings entitled Drawing Book, For Copies, one created by Carrie Cooley, the other by Mattie Cooley, manufactured by John Marsh, Manufacturing Stationer and Importer, Boston, ca. 1855. Each book is 12 unnumbered leaves in length and contains pencil drawings copied from other sources. Both books have illustrated front covers; a delicate and elaborate floral frame surrounds the title and a vignette of a steam engine train. The back covers are manufacturer's advertisements. The drawing book in Env. 42 is bound in green paper, and "Carrie Cooley" is written in ms., in pencil, on the front cover. The drawing book in Env. 43 is bound in beige paper, and "Mattie [?] Cooley" is written in ms., in pencil, on the front cover, as well as in ink in the upper right-hand corner. Tissue paper guard sheets are bound in between each of the leaves in both books.
