One joint drawing and tracing book entitled Drawing and Tracing Book: Boats and Houses, published by McLoughlin Bros., New York, copyright 1898. The cover title reads: Drawing and Tracing Book: Boats and Houses. This book is comprised of 8 lithograph plates of images for drawing and tracing. The front and back covers are chromolithographs; the front cover features a bespectacled little girl, seated at a table, painting in a coloring book. The back cover reads: "First lessons in drawing for children" and has a decorative, floral design below the words. The publisher's statement is in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover: "Copyright 1898, McLoughlin Bros. New York." The images inside the book are the same as those in Box 33, env. 03. These images have been traced in pencil and colored in with crayons. "Helen A. Bailey" is written in ms., in pencil, across the bottom of the front cover.

One manufacturer's advertisement/drawing book entitled Tiny Tots Drawing Book, published by Emerson Piano Co., Boston, Massachusetts, ca. 1885. Printed at the bottom of the front cover is "4- Little Pets." This 8-page booklet contains several images on each of the 8 pages, with leaves of tracing paper bound in between each leaf, for tracing. The front and back covers are chromolithographs; the front cover features a little girl holding two rabbits; the back cover features a smaller image of a little girl near a rosebush. Printed on the back cover is: "Compliments of Emerson Piano Co., 110 Boylston Street, Boston, Mass. Western Branch: 195 Wabash Ave., Chicago." Images for tracing include a horse, a pony, chickens, birds and rabbits. Some of the images have been traced. A blue ink stamp on the back cover reads: "Frank M. Grow, Sole Agent, Rutland. VT." "Winslow Bowen" is written in ms., in pencil, along the outer edge of the front cover.

Both are wearing hats, and the little boy is rowing like a gondolier. The back cover is a green and white mesh pattern. The images for tracing are of various types of boats and houses. "81" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. None of the images have been traced or copied. "Bertie from Emily Jan. 11-1911" is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper left-hand corner of the title page. "2.50" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the title page.

One joint drawing and tracing book entitled Great Big Drawing and Tracing Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., Springfield, Massachusetts, ca. 1928. This book is comprised of 8 leaves of illustrations for tracing, copying and coloring, and 8 leaves of tracing paper. The front and back covers are chromolithograph illustrations; the front cover features a boy drawing and a girl at play, the back cover illustration is of a seated child drawing. Above her are the words: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." "510" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. The illustrations within this book are grouped by category, and each leaf is labeled: "Little Folks Friends (toys); Feathered Friends; Four Footed Friends; Fruits and [has been cut out]; The Farmer and the Goose (signed by Rhoda Chase); Towser and the Snow Man (also signed by Rhoda Chase); and Mothers Sewing Circle." Many of the images have been traced and colored in. "Alice Brown, Dec. 25, 1928" is written in ms., in pencil, at the top of the back cover. One drawing book/manufacturer's advertisement entitled Pretty Picture Drawing Book, published by M. F. Tobin, Publishers, New York, ca. 1910. This is a promotional advertisement for Besse, Bryant & Co., Clothiers, Hatters, Furnishers of Worcester, Massachusetts. The book is comprised of 6 leaves of lithograph illustrations, which are various images of children playing outdoors and with toys. There are leaves of tracing paper bound in between each image; some of the images have been traced onto the tracing paper. The front cover is a chromolithograph image of a young boy in a blue suit, holding a pug dog in his lap. The insides of the front and back covers, as well as the back cover, are textual advertisements for Besse, Bryant & Co. "M.F. Tobin, Publisher, N.Y." is printed at the bottom of the front cover. "$5-" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper left-hand corner of the inside of the front cover.

Our Country Drawing Book

One drawing book entitled Our Country Drawing Book, by Alfred G. Bauer, published by Sprauge Warner & Company, Chicago, copyright 1903. The front cover shows a young girl sitting at a desk in a classroom, drawing in a book; the lower-left corner bears the series title Bauer Series No.1. The back cover features an image of a can of coffee, labeled "Richelieu, the Finest Product." The book is a promotional piece for the Richelieu brand of canned foods; on the inside front cover the company states "In presenting 'Our Country' Drawing Book, we do so with the assurance that we are adding another educational feature to our advertising methods." The back inside cover shows images of several Richelieu goods. The book contains 16 pages of outline images. It was originally published with tracing paper inserts; only one remains. The image below the tracing paper was meant to be filled in or traced and then filled in. The images include maps of the United States, individual cities, the U.S. Caribbean and Pacific possessions, as well as Nicaragua, Panama (and the proposed canal routes through both countries) and Venezuela. Each of the images includes an advertisement for a Richelieu product. None of the images have been filled in; one of the maps has been traced in pencil. The name "Margaret" is written in ms., in pencil, above one image.
