    Image of an advertisement for John H. Starin's island excursions. Includes perspective views of Manhattan Beach Hotel and the Oriental Hotel, as well as images of Starin's resorts at Alpine Grove, Glen Island, and New Rochelle. The central image depicts an image of Starin’s fleet of ships and steamboats on water, and other imagery includes people traveling to destinations on boats. Located on the left and right edges of the poster are two waving flags representing Star-in’s personal flag, abbreviated with a symbol of a star in place of lettering for his name.

    One bound set of engravings, untitled and unsigned, comprised of eight leaves of original engravings. The images are all portraits, some are single figures and others are multiple faces. The plates include a nude woman, and the engraved "label" reads "From the Venus de Medicis" (plate 1); three rows of male, female, and child heads (plate 2); a bearded man, side view (plate 3); a hooded man, gazing upward (plate 4); a woman dressed in a fur-trimmed cloak wearing a double strand of pearls looking down (plate 5); two images of the same side view portrait of a woman (plate 6); a double three-quarters view portrait of a young woman (plate 7); and a full-frontal double-portrait of a young man with curly hair (plate 8). Some of the plates are signed "Anib. Carracche."

    Image of a broadside with a double-hemisphere pictorial map of the world. The title is separated by a decorative image of universal dial plates or “times of all nations.” Above the dial plates is an image of “Father Time” shown holding a scythe and is seated next to an hourglass. The print has stylized borders on the left-and-right margins that show examples of currencies across the world, starting on the left with coins from the United States, and ending on the right with a coin from Northern Africa. Each corner of the print has a vignette with a portrait of a man representing different races, they are labeled, “Caucasian, Mongul, Malay and African.” Above the world maps, spanning the width of the print, are engravings of “Principal Varieties of the Human Race,” showing stylistic representations of male physiognomy of men from different regions of the world, starting with “Samoieda,” and ending with “Tasmanian.” Shown circling the upper portions of the world maps are engravings. The left map, featuring North and South America, has small engravings of people hunting buffalo, collecting sugar cane, traveling the Andes, and more. The right portion of the map features continents Africa, Asia, and Europe with engravings of a Pagoda, St. Paul’s Cathedral, wild animals and more. The two maps meet in the middle, with two figures greeting, the man from the western hemisphere is dressed in a top hat and suit, while the man from the eastern hemisphere is dressed in an Asian conical hat and loose robes. Below the map, also spanning the width of the print, are engravings of "Female Costumes of the Different Parts of the World, categorized by Nations of Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, and Oceanica.” Text on the map provides statistical and historical information about the world’s greatest libraries, ancient cities, celebrated battles, population, and geographical terrain.

    A compilation of records concerning the island of Guernsey and other Channel Islands from the reign of Elizabeth I through that of Charles II

    Manuscripts

    An early modern compilation, in several hands on varying lots of paper, of contemporary copies of records pertaining to the history of the island of Guernsey and (to a lesser extent) of the other Channel Islands. Includes copies of a series of petitions of Guernsey inhabitants sent to James I's commissioners Sir Robert Gardner and James Hussey in 1607 complaining against Governor Sir Thomas Leighton, and against the bailiffs and jurats, about various economic, social, legal, and religious issues. Also included is a later (late 17th century?) series of copies of earlier legal, administrative, and personal records concerning the various Channel Islands from Elizabeth I's reign through the Restoration, various lists of officials from the 13th century on, extracts from laws and regulations, etc.
